8° Grand Raid du Cro-Magnon

Backpack and safety lamp are essential supplies to cover the course leading to Plage Marquet, a stone’s throw from Montecarlo, running almost exclusively through the Parco Nazionale di Mercantour national park and the Grandi Sentieri di Ranodonnée. Before descending towards the sea, the runners must overcome passes that are 2,500 metres high, tackle a positive height difference of 6,400 metres and a negative one of 5,400 metres, reach each check point by the time established by the organisation, upon penalty of disqualification. At the same time of the Cro-Magnon, the Neander trail is being run. A 56 kilometre night race along the same trail, but leaving from Camp d’Argent instead, one of the four tests in the Challenge des Alpes Maritimes.
