Through the character of Bartolini, the exhibition deals with the theme of Italian landscape. For the first time in Italy, it will be showing and comparing the oil paintings of this Tuscan artist with several masterpieces of the same subject matter by such artists as Mario Sironi, Carlo Carrá, Ardengo Soffici, Ottone Rosai and Italo Cremona. The exhibit goes beyond the world of Bartolini, demonstrating his ties of intellectual friendship and critical relationship with not only the above mentioned artists but with Francesco Messina, Mino Maccari, Primo Conti, Orfeo Tamburi, Dino Prandi, Giorgio Upiglio and many more as well. The show presents all Bartolini’s main works, from his initial monotypes to his oil paintings, from his watercolours to the excellent, well-conceived graphic design, whose use is not limited to his relief printing, culminating in his famous Pinocchio tablets.
