Alpi da scoprire: an illustrative itinerary
Susa - Exilles - Bardonecchia
Various locations
from 07.07.2008 to 26.10.2008
The title “Alpi da scoprire” is the mutual key to all the locations of the exhibition. Art constitutes the central part of the Susa section where the wide circulation of artistic models of the Late Middle Ages, the aspects of the political-religious and social history of that era right up until the contemporary use of the Alps as a training ground for the formation of the civil and spiritual conscience of the young are all represented here. But the term Scoperta (Discovery) coincides with the knowledge of the Landscape, which is being reconstructed in Exilles by way of multi-medial tools, through cartographic and scientific components; while the location of Bardonecchia gives rise to reflection starting with the athletic use of the alpine environment, on its Architectural and urban transformation which has greatly influenced the settlements and the outer perception of the Alps over the past century. The narrative plot of the entire illustrative path comes from three anniversaries: the 650th anniversary of the Trittico del Rocciamelone (the Rochemelon Triptych) and the first documented Alpine ascent; the 300th anniversary of the seizing of the Forte di Exilles and of the upper Valle di Susa by the Sabaudo army; the 100th anniversary of the Sci Club Bardonecchia.
