The “Rotte Mediterranee” exhibit is an event promoted by the Regione Piemonte and the Museo Nazionale della Montagna – CAI Torino, which founded an evolution towards new themes for the “Sentinelle delle Alpi”, a project that in past years has gathered together the Fortresses on both sides of the Alps. In 2008, year designated as “European Year of Intercultural Dialogue”, the dominating theme of the programme of live performances in the Fortresses of Exilles, Fenestrelle, Vinadio and Gavi is the dialogue between peoples overlooking the Mediterranean. Their different souls, their different paths upon life’s journey that take place on the shores of this sea, different nationalities that share mutual roots nonetheless - from the Balkans to the Pyrenees, from Magreb to the Middle East – are at the foundation of the events on the “Rotte Mediterranee” roster, a way to get acquainted with and better understand one another, based upon the comparison of cultures and artistic expression. Events that imagine and build terrains of creativity and mutual expression upon this wealth of differences.
