“Riso Amaro. Comicità Italiane” (Bitter Smile. Italian Comedy) is the leitmotiv of a sequence of theatrical shows, concerts, performances of literature and poetry as well as literary evenings that will be taking place in the most characteristic and evocative places found in the hills of Monferrato, the Roero and the Langhe areas: piazzas, parks, farmhouses and the castle courtyards of the participating towns. The “Riso Amaro” is a smile that surfaces in the complexity of these times in which humour and tragedy often find themselves artistically similar. The Festival opens ideally on August 31st at Benevello, with the awarding of the Premio Grinzane dedicated to Beppe Fenoglio and concludes on September 7th at Santo Stefano Belbo with the awarding of the 25th edition of the Premio Grinzane Cesare Pavese.
