In order to give higher visibility to this large linguistic and cultural space situated in the heart of Europe (but transferred to Italy, France and Spain), the Chambra d’Oc is dedicating its project “L’Occitania a piedi – dalle Valli Occitane in Piemonte alla Val d’Aran in Catalunya” (Occitania on foot- from the Valleys of Occitania in Piemonte to the Val d’Aran in Catalonia) to the appeal of the “D'Oc language for World Heritage of Humanity”, since the year 2008 has been proclaimed by the UN as the International Year of Languages. From departure on August 30th from Vinadio ( Stura - Occitan Valleys) to arrival on November 7th at Vielha (in the Aran Valley in Catalonia), seven people on foot will cross 1300 kilometres in support of the "Lenga d'òc Patrimòni Mondial de l'Umanitat" appeal. Anyone who would like to participate in one or more legs of the journey are welcome to. All they need to do is consult the Chambra d’Oc page on the internet site where daily departure schedules are listed. A rich programme of cultural events will be accompanying every leg of the journey.
