The 2008 – 2009 season’s Operatic programme presents a very healthy Teatro Regio, capable of communicating with a wider, composite audience. Cherubini’s “Medea” will be introducing audiences to Maestro Roberto Gabbiani, Teatro Regio’s new chorus master. The curtain will be rising on an original season with “unusual” masterpieces – from Massenet’s “ Thaïs” to Cilea’s “Adriana Lecouvreur” – along with space reserved for Flamenco dance with the extraordinary Ballet Nacional de España, presenting two productions choreographed by José Antonio. Proof and support of the public’s growing interest for the operatic genre, Rai-Radio3 has scheduled the simulcast or pre - recorded broadcasts of almost all the works on the season’s calendar.
