29ª Fiera del Porro di Cervere

The so-called “Porro Cervere” (Cervere Leek) is derived from the selection of a variety of local seeds. The sandy soil along the Stura river, the climate and the conditions of the sun create a unique vegetable whose cultivation is tied to methods that have been handed down from one generation to the next, a far cry from an industrial kind of distribution. A tradition by now, every year in November, the “Fiera del Porro” (Leek Festival) unites real connoisseurs and simple “inquisitive” people to offer the finest in local culinary arts. Risotto, selections of meats, au gratin leeks, pastis and much more: in addition to the evenings dedicated to fine wine and dining, the Festival offers music and live performances by street artists who perform in the town’s streets during the day. Furthermore, some events that cannot be missed are the traditional exhibit-market, the gastronomic contest “il porro in Cucina” (the leek in the kitchen) and every Sunday afternoon, hot air balloon flights open to the public.
