Regio: 2008-09 Concerts

Great classics like Stravinsky’s “Petroushka” or Shostakovich’s popular First Symphony will alternating and interweaving along with Mahler’s passionate early works with the “point” music from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet suite, with jazz by Uri Cain and the unforgettable soundtracks composed by Bernard Hermann for Hitchcock, those composed by Nicola Piovani for such Taviano brothers’ films as “Chaos” or Benigni’s “Life is Beautiful”. There’s more: the Regio’s Concert series calendar of events is leaving plenty of room for the most illustrious artists and newest, most contemporary of musical evolutions: from the Giovanni Allevi phenomenon to pianist Katia Labèque, to solo singer Meg (EX 99 Posse). Gianandrea Noseda, musical director of the Teatro Regio, has the honour of opening and closing this kaleidoscope of musical proposals with two symphonic-choral programmes: Verdi’s Four Sacred Pieces and Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony. Once again this year, the audience has a chance to meet with the featured artists of these concerts before performances thanks to the Prima della musica (Before the Music) initiative.
