Fiera Fredda
Palazzo Bertello, via Vittorio Veneto
from 04.12.2008 to 08.12.2008
In order to avoid feeling the weight of its many years, “Fiera Fredda” is returning to the origins, the colours – white and blue – of the ancient Borgo San Dalmazzo. Pliny the Elder described a snail, the Helix Pomatia Alpina, as one that “can only be found in the Maritime Alps”. A territory which, with the passing of time, was able to obtain its own tradition from this peculiarity by raising the snails on special herbs to the point that these improve the flavour of the snail meat. Fried, Borghiniana style, à la Proveçal, hot and spicy or with mushrooms: the Helix Pomatia Alpina is a specialty that has become worshiped by now. With the “Fiera Fredda”, local food and wine enthusiasts celebrate a ritual that cannot be renounced: four days of sampling, live performances and artistic engagements dedicated to the “queen” of taste and slowness. Among the exhibits, “Lumac’art” deserves a special mention, while the music of the Lou Dalfin group, whose performance on Monday, December 8th is the outstanding event on the playbill. Furthermore, for the more impatient, on Saturday, November 29th and Sunday the 30th Borgo San Dalmazzo will be offering a preview of the “Aspettando la 439ª Fiera Fredda”. (Waiting for the 439th Fiera Fredda)
