29ª Fiera del Porro di Cervere
Sweet, tender and slender: the Cervere variety of leek has carved out a place of honour for itself among the most refined gourmets and, once again this year, starting November 8th, thousands of enthusiasts will unite in the small town in the province of Cuneo to taste the delicacies of the traditional “Fiera del Porro” (Festival of the Leek).

Places
Abbazia di Novalesa
Near the monastery, there are four chapels dedicated to Saint Mary, Saint Salvador, Saint Michael, and the most important one to Saint Eldrado which has two splendid fresco cycles (from the late 11th century) narrating moments from the lives of Saint Eldrado and Saint Nicholas.
Palaisozaki
It is the new Torino Olympic Palasport (Sports Arena) designed by the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki for the Winter Olympics in Torino 2006. A multi-functional space, versatile and flexible which, thanks to the mobility of its platform, can turn from an ice rink into a concert, show, or convention venue.
Villa Scott
The little manor house, one of the most important examples of Torino Liberty architecture, is linked to the name of Dario Argento who set his film, “Profondo Rosso” (“Deep Red”) here – perhaps his most emotional film and the one with the strongest visual effects.

People
Emanuele Severino
“Piemonte is a land of excellent cuisine and extraordinary wines. I was deeply impressed by the Langhe landscape. To admire these hills makes you immediately understand the importance that the landscape held for a writer like Cesare Pavese or Beppe Fenoglio. In these past days, I think I felt the same sensations that Pavese did when he came into contact with his hills.”
Riccardo Scamarcio
"I confess. I have committed the sin of gluttony in Piemonte. Dishes made with Alba truffles are irresistible and are a “must” during my stays in Piemonte."
Alberto Arbasino
“I was affected by the difference between the Langhe landscape today and that honoured by Cesare Pavese in his books. I saw those very same hills filled with cars, houses and sheds…the same landscape in the works of Pavese was passed through by bicycles ringing their bells. This can no longer be seen these days. It’s a real shame!”
