Museo del Castello di Masino (Caravino)
Category: Ancient art
The Castle, the property of Fai since 1987, was the residency of the Valperga counts for ten centuries and was originally surrounded by walls and towers. It is immersed in an enormous 24 hectare park which dominates the Canavese plain. Inside the castle, frescoed and with richly furnished salons from the 17th and 18th century, the Madama Reale apartments and the ambassador’s rooms, with their corresponding small salons, document the events of a family that had a starring role in Piedmont and Italian history. In the nearby Palazzo delle Carrozze, a rich collection of 18th and 19th century carriages can be admired.
