Near Chiusa Pesio one can ski against the backdrop of the calcareous massif of Monte Marguareis – the highest peak of the Maritime Alps – making the most of 34 km of Nordic skiing circuits that run along the nature itineraries of the Alta Valle Pesio Park and are managed by the Marguareis Sports Centre, in which there is also a biathlon shooting range. The structure’s pride and joy is the 5 km run, starting from the Sports Centre, which holds national FISI approval and is equipped with an artificial snow system covering a stretch of 3.5 km. This course is often used for national and international biathlon competitions, along with the shooting range. Besides the competitive course, there is a 10 km tourist course, which runs right by the Carthusian Monastery of Pesio, and a 15 km excursionist course, which travels from the Monastery to Pian delle Gorre. The Centre is a range of facilities: café, snack bar, restaurant serving local cuisine and ski and skate hire. Excursions with snowshoes, ski touring and an Olympic ice rink complete the facilities offered by Chiusa Pesio.

SPORTS AVAILABLE
cross-country skiing: 2 medium and one difficult run; the first measure 10 and 24 km and enter the Monastery area and Pian delle Gorre.
biathlon: IVU cardholders can use the shooting range and beginners courses are available, taught by 4 qualified technicians. Those who wish to practice biathlon sports or enter the shooting range should contact the Cross-country Centre in advance.

HOW TO GET THERE
By car: A6 motorway Torino-Savona, Mondovì exit. SP 564 heading towards Cuneo as far as SP 202 after Pianfei. Turning to the left and driving as far as Chiusa Pesio.
