Demonte

One of the capital of Nordic skiing in Piemonte is in Festiona, a locality in the Stura Valley and a hamlet of Demonte. Among age-old chestnut trees and largely unspoilt nature, every winter about 42 km of ski runs are traced, 30 of which are approved by the FISI. The area devoted to skiing is split into three routes with different levels of difficulty and morphological features, to which the possible variants are added. Consequently there is a great variety of itineraries to satisfy the needs of every cross-country skier. Two schooling areas, one measuring 500 m long and the other measuring 1.5 km, complete the facilities of the Cross-country Centre, which also has a sauna, an ice rink and an artificial snow system covering a 5 km stretch.

SPORTS AVAILABLE
cross-country skiing: 42 km of tracks split into three runs named Fontana della Salute, Mulino and Cinque Borgate. Each has several variants of difficulty which make it possible to ski around circuits of varying length. The Cinque Borgate run is FISI approved for official competitions.

FACILITIES FOR SKIERS
Mountain rescue, ski hire and waxing, ski school, specialised teachers are available for the disabled, cafè-snack bar, artificial snow system, ahanging rooms, sports shop

By car: from Cuneo, take S.S. 20 to Borgo San Dalmazzo; in the country go on to Demonte and Valle Stura on S.S. 21 and follow it as far as Festiona.
