The Cantarana Cross-country Centre is located in the High Tanaro Valley, a few kilometres from Ormea, and offers the chance to choose from 11 km of runs with varying levels of difficulty. One of the runs is at competitive/very difficult level and is FISI approved. Part of this 5 km circuit is guaranteed to be open throughout the whole ski season thanks to an artificial snow system covering about 2 km of the track. The cross-country centre makes its equipment hire service, changing rooms and a small refreshment area available. In the municipality of Briga Alta, at an altitude of 1329 m, in the locality of Upega, there are two more cross-country tracks. The main circuit measures 5 km, is FISI approved and crosses a spectacular conifer wood; the second track, which isn’t beaten every winter, follows the River Negrone for 1.5 km and its slopes are also greatly appreciated by ski touring enthusiasts. Upega also offers other winter activities: ascents up ice falls, ski touring excursions and trips on snowshoes.

By car: A6 motorway Torino- Savona, Ceva exit. S.S. 28 heading towards Colle di Nava - Cantarana. Take SP 154 after Ponte di Nava heading towards Upega. From Imperia (Liguria), take S.S. 28.
