Gipsoteca Giulio Monteverde (Bistagno)

In 1937, for the centenary of the sculptor Giulio Monteverde’s birth, the Gipsoteca Giulio Monteverde (Giulio Monteverde Gallery of plaster casts) was inaugurated in Bistagno. His family were originally farmers, and Giulio Monteverde started his artistic career as a wood carver, creating large amounts of crucifixes, before devoting himself to bona fide sculpture. The Collection includes 29 works of art, among which are plaster sculptures, casts and terracotta objects made by the artist between 1884 and 1917. A display of period prints, and a workshop for the creation of plaster artefacts, will complete the exhibition.
