Museo a cielo aperto dell'architettura moderna di Ivrea

Category: Modern and contemporary art

Ivrea

The open air modern architecture Museum of Ivrea was inaugurated in 2001 and was established to pursue two specific goals: to introduce the modern architectural heritage of Ivrea, as a cultural element of the territory that is linked to the history of its economy, as well as a display of Italian twentieth century architecture. The Museum was conceived to promote complex reflection on the city and on the territory, and it also intends to be a place where strategies aiming at the preservation of the architectural heritage can be developed. The Museum complex covers an area of two kilometres, in via Jervis and in the neighbouring areas. Here seven theme posts give information to the public. The posts have been arranged in a sequence characterised by a strong integration with the fabric of the city, and placed along pedestranized areas. The themes of the posts relate to the commitment of Olivetti -from its foundation to its closing down- in the areas where it operated: architecture, town planning, industrial design and advertising graphic design.
