Buildings of historical importance
Palazzo Coardi di Carpaneto (Torino)
Category: Buildings of historical importance
Palazzo Coardi di Carpaneto (Coardi di Carpaneto Palace) was created following a design by Amedeo Castellamonte, and it was modified during the seventeen hundreds with the intervention of architects Bernardo Vittone and Pietro Bonvicini who gave it the current appearance. The main entrance leads to an imposing entrance hall with columns, which is decorated with statues and stuccoes. The courtyard is surrounded by views rich in movement, created by large windows surmounted by circular eyeholes containing busts depicting historical characters, while the movement of the balconies, of the brackets and of the stuccoed medallions counterpoints the relatively simple architecture of the external façades. On the inside, the grand staircase leads to large rooms on the first floor, and inside the recently restored vaults have been found precious XVII century wooden attics with XVIII century decorations.
