Villa Scott (Torino)
Category: Buildings of historical importance
Villa Scott was built in 1902 by Pietro Fenoglio who was born in Torino. This villa is linked to the name of Dario Argento who set his disturbing film “Profondo Rosso” (Deep Red) here. Of his films, this is probably the one that has the most emotional impact as well as having the strongest visual effects. This small villa somewhat in decay was built at the foot of the hills of Torino, and is one of the most significant examples of Liberty architecture. It is located not far from what used to be Giovanni Pastrone’s house, who was one of the pioneers of cinema in Torino in the first years of the past century. A sinuous flight of steps leads to the entrance from the garden that surrounds the villa. Villa Scott is rich in floral concrete and wrought decorations, and is at present unoccupied, whereas when “Profondo Rosso” (Deep Red) was filmed it housed a girl’s boarding school run by nuns.
