Nature Park of the Bosco delle Sorti della Partecipanza di Trino

Category: Parks

Trino

The Bosco delle Sorti della Partecipanza di Trino is surrounded by the rice fields that characterise the plain of Vercelli. This wood is one of the very few extraordinary relicts of the ancient postglacial forest that used to cover the plain of the Po, and this portion still survives today thanks to the cutting down policies that was codified back in the XIII century. The management of the wood was, in fact, given from the Marquis of Monferrato Bonifacio I to the “partecipanti” (sharers), that is the families of Trino who shared the resulting income. Mesophyte plants, such as poplars and enormous specimens of pedunculate oaks, prevail. In the wood, however, three different water conditions have remained, with a small flooded area where aquatic veronica’s blue-lilac flowers, marsh marigold’s yellow flowers and the white of the watercress stand out, as well as a totally dry area where locust-trees prevail.
The Park’s administrators also manage the architectural complexes of Montarolo, Madonna delle Vigne (Vineyards Madonna) and Abbazia di Lucedio (Abbey of Lucedio).
