Nature Reserve Madonna della Neve on Monte Lera (Givoletto)
Category: Parks
This area is only accessible to the public on 5th August (every year), day of the festival of the Madonna della Neve (Snow Madonna). The reason behind this is that this area is home to the only spontaneous copse of Euphorbia gebelica, which is a mountain heliophilous species endemic to Piemonte. This is a plant linked to the climatic changes of the Quaternary period, and is probably the result of changes occurred to a plant originating from the Atlantic coasts. This Nature Reserve is also home to fauna characteristic of the Alps.
