Special Nature Reserve of the Orrido di Foresto (Bussoleno)

Category: Parks

Bussoleno

This Nature Reserve is situated in the central part of the Valle di Susa (Susa Valley), and extends over 200 hectares in the territories of the towns of Bussoleno and Susa. It comprises a long canyon, and limestone ramparts alternated with xeric open grassland. The Rio (river) Rocciamelone runs through the canyon, offering the sight of a spectacular waterfall in its last stretch. This Nature Reserve was mainly created to protect the prickly juniper (Juniperus oxicedrus), a typically Mediterranean plant that has found here a favourable environment.
