Museo dell'Arte del Cappello (Ghiffa)

This museum is situated inside the former Panizza hat factory, which was opened in 1861, and is divided into two rooms. In the first room the felting process is described through images and craft tools, while in the second room hat dressing is demonstrated with pieces of machinery such as the ‘informatrice’ (shaper), the ‘battitesta’ the ‘pomiciatrice’ (pumicer). Advertising posters from different times are also exhibited here, as well as various hats, which document how hat fashion has changed over the years. Fascinating videos and photographs, related to hat making and everyday life in the company, complete the exhibition.
