Museo di Storia Naturale Faraggiana Ferrandi (Novara)
Category: Science and technology
This collection comes form Villa Faraggiana of Meina, owned by lady Caterina, who gave it to the city of Novara in 1957. It includes over a thousand specimens of mammals, reptiles, birds and fish that Mrs Faraggiana had collected over a long period. The most important part of the exhibition comprises local and exotic species bred in the zoological garden, to which were added species brought here from Africa and Asia by Alessandro Faraggiana, as well as other species that explorer Ugo Ferrandi gave to Mr Faraggiana. New species have been later added to this collection, which now comprises around 2400 specimens, mostly mammals and birds that show us in detail the zoogeographical areas of the world.
