Pinacoteca "Eugenio Colmo" (Garessio)
Category: Modern and contemporary art
The new Municipal Painting Gallery is housed in the Town Hall and is the most important painting gallery of the Alta Val Tanaro (Upper Tanaro Valley). Over 150 paintings by Italian and international artists are exhibited here. Especially valuable are the numerous works by renowned cartoonist, caricaturist and watercolourist Eugenio Colmo, alias "Golia", to whom this painting gallery has been named after, and the works by his brother Giovanni Colmo, famous landscape painter. They were born in Torino in the early nineteen hundreds, but lived in Garessio. Numerous paintings by other renowned artists are exhibited here, including: R.W. West, D. Diey (late XIX century English painters), K. Hegedusic, R. De Lyques, Boffa, Chicca, Chieco, I. Decalage, Fico, Fogliati, Gabbiani, Gagino, M. Giugiaro (well-known landscape painter from Garessio and the father of celebrated designer Giorgetto Giugiaro), Lattanzi, M. Lattes, Morscio, T. Michelotti, Paulucci, Roggino, Rosaldo, Sabatini, and many more local painters.
