Museo Civico "Giacomo Rodolfo" (Carignano)
Category: History and archaeology
The museum’s collections were donated to the city by the heirs of Professor Giacomo Rodolfo, historian and archeologist, and document the various moments in the cultural, artistic, and social life of Carignano. Particularly interesting is the section dedicated to Pre-Historic, Roman, and Barbarian antiquity in the area of Carignano where, besides panels illustrating the evolution of inhabited settlements during the Pre-Historic period, fossils such as elephant tusks and teeth, Stone and Bronze Age hatchets, discoveries from the Roman period (including the reconstruction of a well and a tomb), and findings from the Longobard Era are exhibited. Completing the museum’s tour is the section on master carpenters and Baroque sculptors (which includes preparatory drawings by Bernardo Vittone and Benedetto Alfieri), and the section covering the Resistance in Carignano.
