Category: Modern and contemporary art

Torino

Created in 1995 as a place to promote modern and contemporary art culture, it hosts numerous exhibits, conferences, and concerts all with the aim of emphasizing artistic and cultural heritage. The exhibition spaces are particularly well suited for modern and contemporary art shows (such as those dealing with great historical avant-garde movements, monograph exhibits dedicated to 20th century and contemporary masters, and topical exhibitions) and archeological exhibits. Inside Palazzo Bricherasio, built in 1636, there are several historical halls which, at one time, made up the home of Conte Emanuele and Contessa Sofia Cacherano of Bricherasio, rooms where important people from Torino culture and industry visited and which still today preserve their Baroque allure. The Salone degli Arazzi (Tapestry Hall), the Sala degli Specchi (Hall of Mirrors), the Sala dell’Atto (Records Hall) set up by FIAT, the Sala delle Chinoiseries, the Sala dei Ritratti (Portrait Hall), and the Boudoir. These are the historical rooms that used for debates, conferences, social-cultural presentations, and for small scale exhibits. The courtyard on Via Teofilo Rossi and the exedra in the entrance hall on Via Lagrange could be considered to open sky exhibits from the moment they were included in the review, “Outside”, with Guido Curto as curator, dedicated to monumental sculptures and installations by contemporary artists.
