La Botega del Frèr (Chiaverano)

Documents found attest to the fact that this blacksmith’s shop was up and running, uninterrupted, for at least two-hundred years: from 1700’s until the last blacksmith, Vincenzo Bergo, retired in 1960. The “Botega del Frer” displays the tools of the trade used by the Bergo family. In the “sala della forgiatura” (“forging room”) all the machinery necessary to work iron as well as many finished products are on display, while in the “Al cambrin”, the tools necessary to construct weights and measuring devices are displayed along with a collection of locks and farming tools. The water wheel has been restored and can still supply movement to the working machinery located in the museum’s first room.
