Pinacoteca "Giuseppe Augusto Levis" (Chiomonte)
Category: Modern and contemporary art
The Pinacoteca brings together the works of the Chiomonte painter Giuseppe Augusto Levis (1873-1926) , student of Lorenzo Delleani, and is housed in the 17th century “Casa di Paleologi”, the building the artist used as a studio and summer home. The artist’s works have a common connecting thread: a naturalistic subject, local views, and scenes of mountain life and travel. At his death, the painter arranged for all of his work to be donated to the towns of Chiomonte and Racconigi. The collection from the Casa dei Paleologi includes 471 canvases, even if only a part of these have actually found a space to be exhibited.
