Museo della Balsiglia (Massello)

The Museo della Balsiglia was founded by the Waldensian community in 1939 for the 250th anniversary of the “Glorioso Rimpatrio” (“Glorious Repatriation”) and is located in the rooms of a Waldensian school from the late 19th century. The goal is to recall one of the most difficult periods in Waldensian history: the exile of the community to Switzerland and Germany beginning in 1687 and the return that followed, known as the “Glorioso Rimpatrio”, as well as the resistance of the Balsiglia against the French-Piemonte troops in the winter of 1698-09, which ended with the flight to the upper parts of the Ghinivert gorge.
