Buildings of historical importance
Palazzo Anna d'Alençon (Casale Monferrato)
Category: Buildings of historical importance
Anna d’Alencon, wife of Guglielmo IX Marquis di Monferrato, lived in the palace at the beginning of the 16th century. On the third floor, the building has a lovely colonnade, and an arcade over it, with thick, brick columns characterized by cubic capitals with smooth corners and round arches slightly Gothic. The ceiling is lacunar. A high stretch of ornamentation runs along the entire two walls. The coat of arms from the Alerami and Paleologi families are painted on the courtyard walls.
