Category: Modern and contemporary art

Twelve rooms out-fitted following the most modern preservation and fruition criteria, house more than three hundred paintings, sculptures, and drawings, among them a precious collection of cartoons by Gaudenzio Ferrari and his school. The origins of the Albertina Academy Picture Gallery date back to 1824-29, when the archbishop Vincenzo Maria Mossi di Morano donated his “painting gallery”. To these two hundred paintings, a collection of Carlo Alberto’s 16th century drawings preserved in the Royal Archives were added. The Painting Gallery also has works by Filippo Lippi, Ignazio Collino, Giuseppe Bagetti, and Martin van Heemskerk. The painting gallery also organizes important temporary shows on the “Masters of the Albertina Academy”.
