Chiesa di S. Maria Maddalena (Costigliole Saluzzo)
Category: Abbeys and churches
The parish church of Santa Maria Maddalena, notwithstanding its numerous arrangements and re-arrangements, conserves splendid fresco grisaille paintings dating back to the early 16th century. There is also a room, probably a cemetery chapel built around the time of the church above, where other two fresco wall paintings can still be viewed. One is known as the “Cristo di Pietà” or “Cristo della Messa di San Gregorio”, attributed to Hans Clemer, the Flemish artist famous for having been the teacher of Elva, present with his work in the Saluzzo area with works ranging from religious subjects to historic-mythological depictions.
