Buildings of historical importance
Torre Civica di Saluzzo
Category: Buildings of historical importance
Symbol of the city, the Torre Civica (Civic Tower), about 48 meters high, is part of the ancient Palazzo Comunale and it fills the corner between the hill up to the castle and Via San Giovanni. An accurate restoration, completed in 1993, lets visitors climb all the way to the little loggia to admire, from 50 meters up, the landscape over the roofs of the city and the Alps. In the 16th century, a polygonal cusp was built and in the uppermost part, which houses an ambulatory with an octagonal-shaped room, is a small loggia with a little copper dome where an eagle and the Saluzzo coat-of-arms can be seen.
