Museo Diocesano (Pinerolo)
Category: Thematic
An important collection testifying to the 250 year existence of the Pinerolo diocese, the museum conserves and exhibits the paintings, sculptures, fabrics, and metals from the diocese’s liturgical treasures as well as sacred vessels and archival documents. The presence of “strappati” (stunning) frescos dating back to the 14th century, drawings and sketches from the school of Enrico Reffo done between the 19th and 20th century, and a selection of preliminary drawings by Michele Baretta, the painter who adorned a certain number of Pinerolo churches with murals between 1946 and 1966 is also significant.
Created in 1997, the Museo is located in Palazzo Vescovile, right in the city’s historical center, just a few steps from the Cattedrale of Pinerolo.
