Vignale Monferrato

Located in a splendid spot, on one of the highest hills in the area of Monferrato, Vignale was already a flourishing center back in medieval times. Traces of the ancient castle – which no longer exists - are visible in the historical center where a medieval tower stands tall. A garden introduces the illustrious citizens of Vignale to Palazzo Callori with an imposing staircase. The palazzo is a beautiful courtly home that dates back to the 15th century. Built on medieval foundations, it was restored and enlarged during the 18th century. The entrance hall has a frescoed ceiling with the Callori coat of arms while the other rooms have been enriched with elegant décor. Since 1978, Palazzo Callori has housed the Enoteca Regionale del Monferrato (Monferrato Regional Wine Cellar) and has been used as the seat for conferences, seminars, and ceremonies. The palace’s ancient wine cellars in tuff are used to store prized wines and grappa. Adjacent to the palace is the ancient chapel dedicated to Don Bosco with a small and delicious vineria (wine bar).
