Fondazione Tancredi di Barolo - Museo della Scuola (Torino)

At the Fondazione e il Museo della Scuole e del Libro dell’Infanzia ( School and Childhood Book Foundation and Museum) with its seat in Palazzo Barolo, the tradition of pedagogical initiatives promoted during the first half of the 19th century by the Barolo marquises is connected to assistance initiatives and childhood and adolescent protection initiatives. It houses a fund, donated by Pompeo and Marilena Vagliani, of 7,500 Italian and foreign volumes from the end of the 18th century to the mid-20th century, original illustrations, documents, games and didactic material. This fund demonstrates how significant and precious the Piemonte output was in scholastic publication – from Paravia to SEI – with which writers such as Guido Gozzano, Amalia Guglielminetti, Emilio Salgari and illustrators such as Mussino, Golia, Gustavino, along with many, many others, collaborated.
