Cantina dei Santi (Romagnano Sesia)

Located in the ancient neighborhood of the Badia, the Cantina dei Santi is one of the most authentic pieces of evidence of the Abbazia (Abbey) dei San Silvano. The monument has two rooms, the larger of the two, once a capitular room or sepulchral cell, has a fresco cycle from the 15th century depicting noble biblical events. Among historians, there are those, such as Mario Crenna, who theorize that the cantina was the provisionary tomb of Pierre Terrail, Lord of Bayard, knight of Francis I, better known as the Baiardo, who, according to several unconfirmed sources, died during a battle in the area of Romagnano Sesia.
