Buildings of historical importance
Casa Alciati (Vercelli)
Category: Buildings of historical importance
An ancient Vercelli noble home built at the beginning of the 16th century and embellished with frescos of grotesquerie inspired by classical mythology and with trompe l’oeil perspectives, it houses the Museo Leone which conserves historical-archeological collections and an important selection of decorative art. The exhibit of the archeological and Vercelli ancient history collections, overseen by Vittorio Viale in 1939, is installed in the thirteen rooms on the ground floor and reconstructs the history of Vercelli from Pre-Historic times to the Risorgimento through objects and documents.
