Buildings of historical importance
Palazzo D'Oria (Cirič)
Category: Buildings of historical importance
The building stands there on the structure of an earlier 16th century villa belonging to the Provana family, once the Signori di Lanzo. Then, during the17th century, it was turned into a “palazzo delle delizie” (“villa of delights”) following the model, popular at the time, of Savoy homes. The building houses an important historical library with a picture gallery of the family and an apartment reserved for Carlo Emanuele II and the Savoy during their stays. Besides the royal crown above the monogram, there is a series of fresco cycles enriched with stucco attributed to the same decorators of the Venaria Reale buildings.
