Villa "Il Meleto" (Aglič)
Category: Buildings of historical importance
The 19th century structure, and once home to the poet Guido Gozzano, still has its original furnishings. Surrounded by a park and apple orchard, from which the house gets its name, the Meleteo ceased being a Gozzano property in 1912. After the Second World War, in fact, it was acquired by Edvige Gatti Facchini, who was committed to finding the furnishings needed to make the villa as similar as possible to the home described by the poet in his works. At her death, the villa went to Francesco Conrieri who restored it according to the “Liberty” style typical of the early 1900’s and turned the villa into a museum-home.
