Palazzo delle Arti (Saluzzo)
Category: Buildings of historical importance
The seat of the ancient Accademia Saluzzese, the Palazzo delle Arti was built by the Marquis Ludovico II who wanted to give a worthy spot to the trivium liberal arts (grammar, rhetoric, and logic) and to the quadrivium liberal arts (arithmetic, geometry, music, and astronomy). It is an elegant building which rises up on a pointed colonnade with three arches, with crossed windows in terracotta, and a cornice embellished with rib vaults. The walls are richly decorated both on the exterior façade where the allegory of the Liberal Arts is depicted as well as on the interior walls with their frescoed portraits of the most famous literati of the time.
