Aerospace
Piedmont is the Italian region with the largest concentration of companies specializing in the aerospace industry. It is the only region to have set up an industrial infrastructure capable of constructing an aeroplane in all its phases, including the planning, mechanical, and technological phases. Piedmont’s aerospace industry represents a significant element in the regional economy. It is a sector that is steadily expanding with over 100 companies, 9,000 employees, and an annual revenue of over one and a half billion euros.

With this in mind, the Aerospace Piedmont project has begun. It aims to promote the activities and enhance the capacities of Piedmont’s aerospace companies through offering them the chance to consult a data bank that also can be visited by outsiders. This data bank illustrates the characteristics, services and products offered in this sector.
It is important to support the aeronautical and aerospace industries in order to enhance and innovate a highly technological industry and to grasp the chance to develop mature high-tech side industries in contact with others of this sector in Europe. To this end, a committee was established in 2004 consisting of Alenia Aeronautica, Alenia Spazio, Avio, Galileo Avionica, Microtecnica, and the Enginneers’ Association of Turin Province and the Turin Polytechnic University. Its aim is foster the development of skills in the fields of aeronautics, aerospace, propulsion and active-sensorial components through the planning and integration of systems as well as of aerospace equipment, facilities, and sensors.

Patty Smith
"Torino is a distinct city, with a lot of character. It’s not like Firenze or other Italian cities that overwhelm you, where you’re overcome by tourists. It is a city that has a very precise personality, a style, a soul."
Wim Wenders
"I could live in Torino if they offered me an office on the top floor of the Mole Antonelliana, a location perfect for a director."
Carlo Mazzacurati
“Torino is a special place for me, I must say it’s almost exotic. I always enjoy coming to town. I worked in Torino in 2001 while filming A cavallo della tigre. We would shoot at the le Nuove prison and while we were on the set we heard about 9-11 Attack on the Twin Towers”.
