walks

St. Giacomo Chapel
approximately 1 1/2 hours

Leave the car at Torre Canavese and take a narrow road to the cemetery. Before coming to an open space, turn right down a track. Once at the crossroads with a fountain and a public washhouse, go straight on and enter the wood. Past the votive monument is a wider road that leads to the main road. Having followed the "pedemontana" (the foot of the mountain) for a short distance, cross the tunnel and, at the fork in the road, turn right. At the next fork in the road go right again and start walking uphill. After a sharp bend, near an open space. Take the path on the right. The path leads to a rock with a cross. Take the path in an easterly direction that climbs to the top of the hill. Here are some buildings and the St. Giacomo chapel. On the way back, take the narrow road that goes along the edge of the hill; at the pass lower down, go down the old cobbled mule track on the right. At the fork, go right and then left near a votive monument. Carry on straight down the main road towards Torre Canavese. Just before the town, turn right along a path that takes you back to the fountain and washhouse.

The Anello of San Martino
total time approximately 2 hours

Leave the car at San Martino Canavese and follow via Arduino until you come to the small church. Here, turn right up the hill. The road leads through a group of houses and then through some fields. At the fork in the road follow the signs for the Santuario della Trinità (Trinity Sanctuary). Go through a wood until you come to an open space where you find the Santuario. Go back to the fork in the road and head east walking alongside the vineyards and then enter a wood. Go past the "Monte" and you come to another cultivated area; take the path to the left near an electric pylon and after about a hundred metres you come to an asphalt road. Go right, cross Cerreto bridge and then immediately take the old road until you come to a crossroads near the peat fields of Castellamonte. Go straight on alongside the peat moss fields. Go back to the crossroads, turn left at the little road that climbs uphill until you come to an asphalt road near the town of Silva. Cross over the road and head along a path that leads on through fields and a wood and go straight on until the path heads downward to the left. Go right and then immediately left at an asphalt crossroads going down towards the fields. Near the asphalt road, go right and this takes you close to the sports centre in San Martino.
