Religion in the Biellese
walks
Parco Burcina
time required about 2 hours
The natural reserve occupies almost the entire hill very near to the pre-Alpine foothills of the Biellese. The park was a gift from the Piacenza family whose roots go back to the middle of the 19th-century when Giovanni Piacenza, a wool industrialist, decided to buy the hill and turn it into a park. Above all it is famous for its rhododenra coming from the Caucasus and the Himalayas. The best time to visit the park is from mid may to the beginning of June when the rhododendra are in blossom The main entrance to the park is at Pollone. It is recommended to leave the car in the parking lot nearby. Follow a variety of winding roads to reach the top of the hill where a vast panorama opens offering a view from Adamello to Monviso.
