From Casale, take statale (state road) 590 until Cereseto going toward Moncalvo, Portacomaro, and Asti (about 40 kilometers). While still north of the city, continue west along statale (state road) 120 until Baldichieri d’Asti. Here, turn right and a small road among the hills leads to Monale, Cortandone, and Cortazzone, where the Romanesque church of San Secondo is located.
After having stopped to see the church, continue on to Montafia, the Santuario (Sanctuary) di Colle Don Bosco, and the ancient hamlet of Castelnuovo Don Bosco, birthplace of the saint. The Abbazia (Abbey) di Vezzolano is just a few kilometers farther heading north (Albugnano).
