Monferrato: from the Po to the Appenine
walks
Through Valleandona Park
Length of trip: about 1.45 h
From the town of Valleandona proceed along the road in the direction of Montegrosso and Cinaglio for about 200 metres. Following the directions shown by the blue arrows, take a left onto a dirt road that takes you through fields and you then enter the reserve. Passing a stream you turn right and shortly afterwards you leave the road along the fields and turn left and go uphill. After a steep part you then turn right and after another ascent turn left under Bric Gianola.
Coming to an intersection turn right, going alongside the farmlands and continue on keeping the steep wood bank on your right. Going straight on you come to an intersection where you turn right and descending you come to the forest. Arriving at the foot of the Bricco delle Monache turn right going alongside the vineyards. When you get to a ridge proceed along a path to the right towards the Quarnaiera valley until an intersection. Continue straight ahead to the bottom of the valley. At this point turn left, go down into a small valley where you then turn right. After a short uphill again turn left, crossing a bridge over a small stream. When you get to the tarmac road, continue on the other side going alongside an agro-tourism land. Just before a horse track turn right onto a path that goes up through the woods to the edge of a field where you turn right and go down until you reach the tarmac road where the trip began.

Places
Villa Scott
The little manor house, one of the most important examples of Torino Liberty architecture, is linked to the name of Dario Argento who set his film, “Profondo Rosso” (“Deep Red”) here – perhaps his most emotional film and the one with the strongest visual effects.
La “Bollente” di Acqui Terme
This is an elegant, octagonal temple-structure inaugurated in 1879. This eclectic structure has a spring where sulfuric-salty-bromine-iodic water flows at a temperature of 74.5 degrees Celsius.
Palaisozaki
It is the new Torino Olympic Palasport (Sports Arena) designed by the Japanese architect Arata Isozaki for the Winter Olympics in Torino 2006. A multi-functional space, versatile and flexible which, thanks to the mobility of its platform, can turn from an ice rink into a concert, show, or convention venue.

People
Paolo and Vittorio Taviani
"When we arrived at Piazza Castello, immersed in its new light, we said to each other that it was time to set the dolly up here for the camera."
Piero Chiambretti
"The free time I have, I spend in Torino. It’s the place where I grew as a human and professionally. My years of study and cabaret, those of fleeing and returning a winner, those of my haunts. Torino is my life."
Bruno Gambarotta
"For the people of Torino, I was a ‘pacu’, a little peasant…I came from Asti where my father was a typesetter. After the flood of 1949, we moved to Torino. I only spoke the dialect from Asti and I wore zouave-style pants. I got back at them by becoming the best student in class".
