Panissa di Vercelli
This a speciality from the rice region, enriched with vegetables and lard.
Preparation
Chop the lard and onion and fry gently in a saucepan until the onion starts to turn brown. When it is a golden colour, add the peeled and chopped deseeded tomatoes. Season with salt and leave to cook. Add the rice stirring all the time and ladle in boiling water. When the mixture is half cooked add the previously boiled beans and leave to simmer, regularly stirring the "panissa".

People
Antonello Venditti
“Torino is a fist of good earth raised to the sky…it’s my second home. I found a special lady here who knows how to reward me with affection. This is why I will never forget the concert I gave at Palasport in 1980”.
Alessandro Baricco
"Torino is a place where, in general, things are done with great seriousness and exactness. Even living and dying."
Carlo Mazzacurati
“Torino is a special place for me, I must say it’s almost exotic. I always enjoy coming to town. I worked in Torino in 2001 while filming A cavallo della tigre. We would shoot at the le Nuove prison and while we were on the set we heard about 9-11 Attack on the Twin Towers”.
