Water Skiing
When the snow has disappeared from even the highest mountain tops and the ski lifts have closed down and are waiting for another season, there is still a way to put on skis or a board and have the same sensations ... but on water.
Water skiing has a long history in Piedmont, where it has been taught and done first on Lage Maggiore and then spreading to the lakes of Avigliana and Viverone as well. It really took off at Lake Viverone where the lake is very calm. There are also a few places where you can try out wakeboarding, which is very similar to snowboarding. Wakeboarding means riding a board in the wake of a speedboat using the same movements as snowboarding to curve and do acrobatics.
