Windsurf
The two main winds that blow across Lago Maggiore, like all lakes in the Alpine foothills, especially in summer months, are: one that blows in the morning from the mountains towards the plains (known as “moscendrino” since it comes from Monte Ceneri, at times a north wind) and a breeze that blows from the plains to the mountain mostly in the afternoon (called “inverna”). Furthermore, there are some particular points, especially higher up where the mountains are closer together to form a narrow valley, where these winds blow very hard. All of these factors make Lago Maggiore an ideal destination for those who are enthusiastic about windsurfing. Lago di Viverone, found in a strategic position in the hilly moraine area from Serra di Ivrea, is a reference point for surfers. One of the most important schools of wakeboard, wakeskate and wakesurf is here. Wakesurf is the most relaxing of these disciplines, but no less fun than those accessible to everyone. It is similar to wave surfing: the surfer using the waves from the speed boat as if they were ocean waves. To start, the surfer is dragged by boat for the first few metres so that the wave is formed, only to let go as soon as it has. The surfer will then make the most of its tow just like on the ocean. The difference is that on the lake the only wave present is the one being surfed.

"I could live in Torino if they offered me an office on the top floor of the Mole Antonelliana, a location perfect for a director."
Joanne Harris
"The Langhe countryside is breathtakingly beautiful - it’s enough on its own, but what has truly struck me is the sense of community and the respect and love that grape-growers have for the land and for the wine they create."
Alessandro Del Piero
"Torino is the city where I arrived at 18 and where I became a man, where I bought my house and fit it to suit me over the years, where the friends I see live, the city where my wife was born."
